Ameritrust Financial is such a scam. I was contacted a few weeks ago about a credit rebuild program and i was told that i was approved for a Visa card, and yes i verified this with the Customer Service Rep. Several times that it was a Visa card with a $2,000 credit limit. All i had to do was pay the $200 activation fee to get started. For some reason, i've had a bad feeling about this since the phone call but i couldn't find the # or remember the name of the company to call and cancel before the money was deducted from my account. The $200 was deducted from my checking account this morning and something told me to get the name of the company from the check and call and ask more questions and i was told by the rep that i had to have been told it was a merchant card because there is a verification process that everyone goes through and it states that this is a merchant card!!! I would like to say that that is a total LIE! These people have got to be stopped somehow! Apparently this whole verification process is not true if everyone keeps complaining about the same problem that shows that something is not right when Ameritrust initially contact consumers about this card. There has got to be something that can be done to stop these people and get our money back!!!
