I was contacted by Ameritrust Financial regarding a credit card designed to improve my credit rating. I would "prefund" the card with $200 and be issued vouchers to use to repay the bills as I used the credit card. It sounded fine on the phone, and I thought I had heard of Ameritrust Financial as a legitimate company. After giving my bank information over the phone, I later checked the Internet and saw all of the fraud complaints against this company.
I found a telephone number for Ameritrust Financia but when I called it, the number had been disconnected.
Does anyone know how to go about getting a refund of the $200. Would it be an FTC formal complaint since the fraud is occurring over the phone? I would appreciate any advice from others who've had any success getting their money back.
