On late July I was greeted by Jordon from Atlas Communications. He told me he was in the area and was offering Disk Network Service at a $20 a month discount for 10 months.in signing up, I would receive all the equipment for free and pay a $49.99 installation fee, which would be waived if I entered a 18 month contract. I was also told that I could send in a copy of my digital cable bill and recieve an additional $20 for a second 10 months. Seeing that the price was locked for 20 months I decided it was worth it. The installers showed later that week and I was off and running.
When I recieved my bill there was no discount credited. I called Dish Network and they explained that I must send in a rebate to get $20 off for 10 months. It would be credited 7-8 after submission. I explained that I was offered a discount and not a rebate. I explained that there was a difference and that I wanted the discount. They said that they could not honor what their vendor had said and to take it up with them. Dish also said I was not eligible for the second 10 month discount.
I called Atlas next. They told me the second discount did not exist and that I would have to submit a rebate. I told them that the contract did not stipulate a rebate and that I would not do so to get the discount. They told me that they would honor the discount if thats what the contract said. I was told to wait a week for them to get the rebate. Three weeks later they still did not have the contract. On 8-15 I called them and finally they had the contract.
Lydia the phone rep informed that while the contract did not stipulate a rebate, I would have to submit one for the discount. She also said that the salesmen was not able to offer the second ten months. I asked for her manager, who refused to come to the phone. The manager told Lydia to tell me that it was the best they could do. I threatened legal action and asked to speak to Lydia's manager's manager. Lydia informed me that they were a small company and could give out that info.
All calls to Dish Network were left unreturned even after speaking with Mary in the executive offices.
Atlas knowing tells their sales people to cheat the customers. Offering deals they cannot honor. Rebates arent discounts. You pay taxes on rebates, not discounts. Discounts are applied day one and you dont have to wait. Atlas doesnt get this and neither does Dish Network. The contract says $20 of for 10 months. It makes no mention of any rebate. Atlas should give me $200 for the misrepresentation. This will also be to submit the rebate to recieve an additional 10 months.
I will be taking legal action against this sorry excuse for a company.
