We all know that these rent to own companies are nothing but ripoffs, but some people have no other choice. I hate these companies with a passion, so when my mother was looking to buy a computer, she couldnt afford the big cost up front, and seeing as she is on a fixed income and disabled these pirates of the Aarons rental store took complete advantage her of income status. She chose a 90 days same as cash on a computer, the total cost of the computer with taxes, fees and everything was $298.13, this was for a used computer, but guranteed. The contract she signed was not for a 90 days same as cash, lol, who would have expected anything less from one of these customer raping stores right? My mother had a coupon for $60.00 off the purchase price. Now any grade school child can see that $298.13 - $60.00 = $238.13. So when my mother paid the computer off 11 days earlier, she expected that Aarons would not be asking her for any money, as we all would, right?
Bulls*t! These people are still dunning her for money, telling her she did not " tell them that the last payment was the payoff"? What the hell do these people need? Someone to hold their damn hands or for someone to show them that hey! When the contract is paid out, its paid off. They tell her now she still owes better than $100.00. Well forgive me, but im confused at how this works. It would be no different than paying off your home and the bank says, well "you didnt tell us you were paying it off with the last payment due", so we think you should pay a few more payments. These people have lost their damn minds.
So i looked over this contract, and behold, there is no amount that says the price of the computer for a 90 days same as cash deal. So i called, what did they have to say?.." Well she didnt tell us she was paying the last payment", and of couse i asked them, are you people stupid? And then the mumbo jumbo crap started, using their legal contract as their crutch and defense. These people are scum, no matter how you look at it, they are scum! The funny thing is, that a preachers daughter works for them, but we all know the old saying right? Trusting one of these stores is like trusting a banker while at the same time remember " ya never know what ya gonna git"
This is how these a*holes get you. They use trickery and deceptive paperwork to pull you into a bulls*t deal. And more often than not, they prey on the disabled, or elderly.in this case they took advantage of my mother, it could be your mother or even grandmother they get next. We have chosen to wait this out to see what happens, but as we all know, these SOB's have more money than most individuals. I warn all people to stay away from rental companies, and if you find you cannot, heres a way to help, save what the payment for that TV, couch, computer payment would be each week, month or however they work it, save for just a few months, then make the purchase. You can in most cases put these items in layaway at department stores and electronic stores, this will guarantee that purchase price tax is all you will pay. Aarons has taken over alot of the old Rent a Centers and will also ask you to come in and redo or sign another contract with them, you do not have to do this, dont be bullied into signing another contract with another company. Continue to pay for what you have until its paid off, especially if you owe a large amount. Breach of contract laws vary from state to state, but all will protect you when it comes to company buyouts.
