Buying a purse from Coach is no longer what it used to be. Everyone always walks around saying how you can't go wrong with a Coach purse because of the Lifetime Warranty. Boy are they wrong.
I received a purse for Christmas several years ago. Immediately I noticed the stitching coming out. I returned the purse and instead of giving me an exchange at the store they sent it in for repair. I received a brand new purse from Coach. Great. What could they do it was days old. However stating they have this Lifetime Warranty against such defects.
It sat in the return packaging unused for the over 2 years when i took it out and used it for 2 and half weeks. I put the purse back in the closet and took it out about a month or so ago and used it 2 weeks prior to one of the shoulder straps coming off. Keep in mind I had a wallet in the purse. This is a very large purse and should have held more than a wallet.
I went to another local store to send it for repairs once again. Keeping in mind even the store noticed the purse looked like it had never been used.
Only this time to receive my original damaged purse back in a box with no packing with a coach catalog. No note or explanation etc.
Two days later the local store called and said I would receive a letter in the mail from the repair center with a coupon for 40% off a new purse. They said they were unable to repair the purse and retain the integrity of the bag.instead of honoring my lifetime warranty they decided I could buy another bag and this time receive a discount. Why would I want to buy another purse when i had one that was in mint condition other than un usable as the strap was broke off.
This was a slap in the face. I will never buy another purse from coach again. They clearly do not honor as a Lifetime warranty as they no longer make my purse so therefore a discount is issued. This was a $360 bag.
Why have a Lifetime warranty against defects if they won't replace a bag they cannot fix. Whenever I hear coach the first thing people brag on is how they were told there was a lifetime warranty against defects.
This purse clearly had a defect or the handle would not have fallen off with a total of 4 weeks of use over the life of the purse. I do not expect my money back but would definately expect the have it replaced with something of equal value.
Next time you think about buying a coach rethink it. God forbid it falls apart after they stop making that particular bag.
