My husband had been with voicestream for 3 years. Easter of 2000 he wanted to give me a cellphone and upgrade our service to a family plan. The company gave us free text messaging and free long distance on weekends. They charged us for these services on our monthly bill. We called the company and they quickly changed their mistake. After the third time of having to get this corrected we decided to cancel our service but we wanted to make sure we were not within contract.
So my husband called up a customer service rep and told them about the situation and that we needed to cancel after the contract is up. (it was a one year contract) We canceled April. We new forsure this was out of contract cause we had upgraded to the family plan before Easter of 2000.
The company charged us a $200 cancelation fee. When we called them to let them know we were not within contract and a cancelation fee was not valid. The rep kept giving us the same run around that we were the ones who were wrong. When we asked for a supervisor the rep laughed at my husband for asking. My husband then asked her if he thinks this matter is funny.
She continued to laugh. The call was ended. We called back to see if we could get more help from another rep. The rep couldn't even tell us of the date we signed up with voicestream and when we signed up for the family plan.
Not only does this business have poor customer service skills, I believe they do not keep correct records of accounts. They kept on billing us the wrong amounts and its been a total nightmare from the beginning.in the end I paid the $200 because I did not want it to become a collection issue. To everyone that is thinking about having an account with voicestream, good luck!
