One day i got a call saying I "won" $400.00 in airplane vouchers and $100.00 in gasoline vouchers. These WERE transferable and i could use them at any time. I just had to try the variety club value card where i could get discounts on a ton of great products. So, the person on the other line says, do you bank at & and I corrected her no I bank at —. And I proceed to give her my bank account information. At the end of the conversation the guy mentioned something called credit life DO NOT sign up for credit life. There is a 149.00 enrollment fee, along with a monthly fee of 9.95 a month. Should the information not get to you in time, they will still bill you.
By giving variety my account information I gave them "permission" to take out the monthly fees for both the variety card and the credit life card AND the activation fees for both. IF i didn't call and cancel before the set amount of time (which was, i was told 14 days). I waited for the information, so I could get the number so I could call and cancel, but it was too late. Variety already took the money from my account. Before the information came, before i got the companie's phone numbers.
I called both companies (both companies, are based in the same building with the same manager...) when i called credit life the first time the employee refused to put the manager on the line, and told me that i would receive vouchers in the mail for my refund. I called again (this time to variety) again, the employee said I could not speak to a manager, I demanded to speak to a manager, and i finally did, he explained that they could not electronically refund my money and that i would have to send a letter indicating that i do indeed want a refund. I will have to do the same for credit life as well.
This whole experience was a huge hassle and it isn't over yet, hopefully i can get my money back.
