Well let me just start off by saying DO NOT use Sirody, Freiman & Feldman, P.C. Located in Baltimore, Maryland.
I went into their office on March 2 around 9:30am and talked with Mr. Sirody about the option of filing for Bankruptcy because I did fall behind on my house and I wanted to save it. I didn't have enough money to save it and this was looking like the route that I was going to have to take.
Well after talking to Mr. Sirody about all the fees and such I left and went to work for that day. During this time I was still working with my mortgage company on a repayment plan but they were working very slowly and they didn't guarantee anything. Well late in the afternoon Friday I got a message from my mortgage company saying that they could definitely do my repayment plan.
So I called and left a message over the weekend on Mr. Sirody's partner's answering machine because Mr. Sirody didn't have voicemail to call me back right away. I basically told him that I would no longer have to file for bankruptcy because my mortgage company came through. Which at the time Mr. Sirody couldn't file anything anyway because he needs a certificate from a credit counseling agency in order for him to officially file my bankruptcy case.
Well then I called again first thing Monday, March 5th to make sure Mr. Sirody got my message and left another message with the operator to have him call me back right away. Well Mr. Sirody didn't call me back until around 11:00am the next morning. During this whole conversation he tried to convince me to go with bankruptcy and that I couldn't guarantee I was going to keep my house by working it out with my mortgage company.
Well I kept telling him I just wanted to go with my mortgage company because I didn't want to have a bankruptcy on my credit. He basically told me that my credit was already ruined because there was a foreclosure in progress and that my credit couldn't be saved at this point. Then when he finally realized I wasn't giving up he said Well how about we can still represent you and talk to your mortgage company's lawyers and make sure they are doing what they are saying they are going to do I told him I know what they are going to do and I can't afford to pay him to do something that I can do myself.
Well in the meantime during this whole conversation he was charging me for trying to convince me to file for bankruptcy when I told him from the beginning I didn't want to. So he told me he had to work out a timesheet for the time spent on my case which was from 9:30am on March 2 until 5pm that same day. He said I will work one out and give you a call this afternoon with how much your refund will be for.
Well needless to say he didn't call me back and when I called his office back the next morning the operator said he went out of town until Friday. I told her I needed to talk to someone because I needed this money to pay my down payment on my repayment plan. Now I guess my first mistake was signing the retainer agreement and giving him a check right away. Because he made sure the check was cashed the same day but I had a sale date set for March 12 and he told me he couldn't get a refund back to me until Friday, March 9 which was one business day before the sale of my house.
In the end it worked out because I had to borrow money from family members because I didn't get a refund back yet. Then I finally got my refund back and he charged me $650.00 out of the $1,500.00 I gave him. $650.00 dollars for practically doing nothing! I guess you learn from your mistakes and I defiantly have learned from mine. So if everyone is smart once again DO NO use Sirody, Freiman & Feldman, P.C.
