Galore Moving & Storage
BEWARE: Ripoff, Scam Artists with an Attitude to Boot - AVOID THIS COMPANY still have not received all our stuff, now they are threatening us

Warning to all Consumers - Do Not Use This Company to Move Your Goods!!! We were ripped off and still have not received all our stuff. We were so upset at the way they held our belongings hostage and had the nerve to threaten us over the phone that if we did not pay the extra $2000 due to them for being overweight, our stuff will be driven back to California. We were so fed up with their unprofessional service, with the condition our belongings came in, with all the items that were either missing or damaged upon transit, and with the fact that we had to haul all of our stuff into our house ourselves, we cancelled our check after Galore left. Below is our written and emailed complaint to them:

July 23

To whom it may concern:

We are still unpacking and determining the extent of
loss/damage to our household goods transported by your
company. Meanwhile, this letter is to formally inform
you and file a claim against your company for damage
and loss of our personal belongings during delivery
from San Francisco, CA to Champaign, IL, and failure
to provide personnel for unloading in spite of our
contract and fees we paid for.

Our goods arrived to Champaign on July 20 nearly
four weeks after pick up in San Francisco, 6/17/04.
Your driver, Dexter, who signed the delivery Inventory
which included all damaged and missing items,
indicated to us that he had departed CA on Sunday
7/18/04 even though on Wed thru Friday (7/14-16/04) we
were told over the phone that A) the goods were
already in transit, and B) the truck was already in IL
for delivery. Finally, on Sunday 7/17/04 Dexter called
us to let us know he was in Las Vegas and called us on
Monday from Kansas to let us now he would be in IL
sometime Monday or Tuesday. Our goods arrived to our
house on Tuesday around 4pm. This was a complete
misrepresentation of facts which caused us to waste
days while waiting.

Upon arrival of the truck to Champaign for delivery,
we found out that there was only your driver, Dexter,
to unload the truck. Dexter got on the phone with Ely
for almost two hours and he informed us that Ely was
calling Labor Ready in Champaign to hire people to
unload the truck. Eventually Dexter gave up and
concluded that he had been lied to. Nobody showed up.
Consequently, I ended up hauling everything from the
truck to the house while Dexter sorted out and placed
the goods on the ground since the truck had no ramp.
My wife, 7-months pregnant, ended up helping
out as well for over four hours during a hot and
mosquito infested evening. We took over a hundred
pictures of the delivery conditions.

As signed by your authorized agent (driver) Dexter in
the Household Goods Descriptive Inventory sheet there
are 15 items missing from the 140 originally picked up
by a 5-people team and documented by your foreman in
San Francisco. The major missing items are a dresser
mirror, bed headboard and footboard, antique
bookshelf, garden table glass top, long picnic table,
tall mirror, and paintings (and a baby crib). The
major destroyed or damaged items delivered to us are
barshelf, clothes rack, desk lamp, speaker, lamp
shade, bicycle, TV. We will have a complete list as
soon as we finish unpacking all boxes.

We fulfilled our agreement to pay the balance upon
delivery, and we expect you to fulfill your
responsibility to find, deliver and/or compensate for
the loss / damage of our goods and the more than 4
hours of hauling I had to do.

We are very upset and dissapointed by your service at
this point. A lot of the items damaged or missing are
very dear to my wife and are priceless. We expect you
to handle this matter appropriately.
