My girlfriend and I shop ALOT with Conns since we moved out here to Denham Springs, La from Chalmette, La because Hurricane Katrina took everything we owned.in the past few months we have spent nearly $11,000.00 with that company. My girlfriend applied for conns credit for 62in tv / 27in lcd tv / tv stand / warranty for tv's which was a little more than $4000.00.
We received paper work from Conns but did not read it carefully. They had charged us with $1366.93 worth of not needed insurance added to the 4054.73. We contacted conn's in regards to this 4 months after buying these items and they had removed the insurance from our credit line. We had to provide proof of home owners insurance in order to cancel their insurance added to this line of credit.
After a few months went by we wanted to refinance all of my girlfriends bills into 1 payment so we went to Wells Fargo and did a Refi. While at Wells fargo we called the Conn's Credit Hotline to get Payoff on Chelsea's loan. The pay off amount was $1208.56 so Wells Fargo printed a check in the amount of $1208.56 made out to me / chelsea and Conn's.
I personally drove to Conn's location in Baton Rouge and asked the lady the payoff amount needed to pay loan in full. She replied $1208.56 so i provided a check in that amount from Wells Fargo. I have receipt here showing Account PAID OFF with 0.00 Balance owned under Chelsea name.
2 Months went by and we start getting 3 and 4 calls a day now from Conn's stating they made a mistake and we now owe another $1800.00 under chelsea's name with conn's. They are very rude on the phone and we feel if any mistakes were made it was 100% on Conn's end and that we should not owe anything more.
They called the house today 2/4/07 and demanded payment or they would put Chelsea in Credit Collection. So i had to make payment of $210.00
I think Conn's made the mistake and they even admitted to making the mistake there for they should not hold us in collection for something we made a loan to pay off.
Thats my horror story
