In February I decided to rent a sofa and loveseat from the Rent a Center in Madison, Tn. After approximately 2 weeks into the rental agreement I started recieving harassing phone calls and threats to my place of employment, my cell phone, and unexpected visits from the staff of the store to my home regarding payments on my account. I explained to the store manager Mike Binkley that I got paid on the 1st and 15th of every week and that I would make my payments then which is exactly what I told him when I signed up for this extremely unprofessional rental buisness.
After 2 months of this ongoing harassment I finally decided to tell them that they could come pick up their merchandise and that I no longer wanted to do buisness with them. One month later I get a summons to appear in court for merchandise that I no longer had and they were asking for a settlement in the ammount of 3,084.44. I called Mike Binkley and asked him why I was served with the summons and he said "it was a mistake" and that he would call his attorneys and clear it up. On July 17th I was served with a garnishment of my wages to my place of employment for the same ammount 3,084.44. I have been completely humiliated and taken advantage of by these people. They are completely inappropriate in their conduct, the staff and managers of these stores act and talk like they have no education beyond elementary school. After reading all the complaints of this company I am shocked that they are still in buisness.
