FreeCreditReports.com provides a free credit report and credit score online. The only hitch is that you are automatically enrolled for a 30 day trial in CIC Triple Advantage Credit Monitoring and if you fail to cancel that automatic membership within 30 days, you begin to receive charges of $12.95 per month on your bank debit card or a credit card, depending on which one you supplied at the time you ordered the credit report.
Many articles at this rep-off venue indicate that consumers are having trouble cancelling the trial membership and are being charged month in month out for the Triple Advantage Credit Monitoring service. I placed my credit report order on May 22 and I got it instantly from Experian and I printed it out (this included a credit score).
I received absolutely no feedback from Triple Advantage from 5/22 thru 6/12 so I cancelled my Triple Advantage trial membership by phone today (one call, no hassles). Triple Advantage is hooked up with Experian and all you need do (do it before the 30 day trial is almost over) is call 1-877-481-6826 and at the prompt touch 1. Granted there is a "wait time", mine was less than 2 minutes. A CSR comes on, pulls up your history on when you ordered your credit report and then data enters a cancellation of the Triple Advantage Credit Monitoring service. Contrary to the hassles I've seen on this site, nothing really could have been easier. Hope this helps some of you who are struggling to get this unwanted service cancelled.
