Patriot Movers
Ripoff

Anyone who has had trouble with Patriot Movers, call the Broward County, Florida Attorney General's Office at 1-954-712-4600. Don't hang up until you get results!!! I was called by an investigator from there after I filled out paperwork to complain, and was asked whether Patriot Movers asked for a deposit" before or after I saw a contract! Of course I told them "Before!" and I'm sure the same thing has happened to anyone who has had anyexperience with them. Don't let them continue to get away with this. Read my experience below...

I reported this company to & back in April. I see there are more people who have been gypped by these rapscallions. They use a variety of van lines. The one they got us with was Sasha Transport Inc.

I saw Patriot Movers after clicking on a linc off of

I called them and spoke with "David" there, who gave me a super reasonable price to move me from Ohio to Az. He quoted $. 40 per pound and said to lock in the price I had to pay $500.00
WHICH WAS 100% REFUNDABLE AT ANY JUNCTURE.

About a week later, got a contract which disputed the refundability of my "deposit", stating it is only rufundable until you are within 7 days of the move. When I called David about this detail, he assured me that was only for certain inconsiderate people who make other arrangements and never call to report it until the truck actually shows up on the designated moving day.

Note* Also, they (PM) bank on one not noticing that the $. 40 per lb. Quote IS NOT in the contract. "David" is very assuring, careful to answer and smooth over any questions or problems, and gains trust by assuring the mover that it is his job to explain everything and take the stress out of moving.

On moving day, Sasha Transport showed up. Helped with items not yeet packed. Got everything on the truck... They go to the scales and will invariably come back with a report that the mover has at least 1500 lbs more than the initial quote. Of course, I called Patriot Movers, and suddenly "David" was no longer available, but replaced by an extremely curt, apathetic individual who threw the very thing "David" told you not to worry about in my face: That I was within 7 days of the move, therefore my $500.00 was NOT refundable and, from this point on any discrepancy in weight was between me and the moving company.

Sasha, of course, made it clear that they are not responsible for what Patriot Movers told me, only what they normally charge.By this time my furniture was on their truck, and to stop the move and have it moved off the truck was going to cost me $500.00.

I was stuck! It was either lose well over $1000.00 ($500.00 deposit, $500.00 fee to move my furniture off their truck, and whatever money I've already expended to situate living and job arrangements in AZ.) or scrape up the extra money and have it available in cash for them when they arrived at the point of destination. Other than that, they would have to put MY BELONGINGS in storage and I'd have to first pay the moving truck's fee AND the storage bill to get it back.

IT WASN'T OVER THEN.!!!
I managed to get the money together, but when they arrived at the new apartment in AZ, the truck was TOO BIG to be guided over the apartment complex grounds that accomodate moving trucks day in and day out, and I had to get a U-Haul, have my things tranported from the moving truck to the U-Haul, then brought around the grounds to my new apartment - - - at which point I was charged another $100.00. This final straw broke us and my husband and I lived off of food boxes for the next few weeks.

I wrote the BBB. Who wrote them and received a letter filled with BS. I put it on record that I was not satisfied. They had glibly lied about what happened.

I called Patriot Movers to get a physical address so that I could write them directly, and was told by a receptionist that they were located in W. Miami Beach area and did not give out their physical address. All correspondence had to be sent to a PO Box.

I called the Miami Beach, Fla police who told me they didn't know of such a company in their area. PM's call themselves by other names. (see the complaints about them in

I wrote the Atty General in Broward County, Florida and filled out their paperwork and was called by an investigator who asked if I was given a contract before I paid the $500.00 or afterward. I told him, BEFORE! When I didn't hear anything for a few months I contacted the ATty General's office and they were well aware of the complaint, but said that due to Katrina and Rita (hurricanes), they were behind.

I did get a call back and was told that I would be contacted by an attorney. So, I anticipated a class action suit. Anyone who wants action should contact the BROWARD COUNTY, FLA Attorney General's office, at 1-954-712-4600 and ask to lodge a complaint about PM
AND BE SURE TO KEEP THE NAME OF WHOEVER YOU TALK TO! Don't stop until you get action!!! That's the only way we can send a message that we will not stand for this type of trickery!
