Nancy Hiner, owner of Paper Dolls, a wallpaper service, asked that I have the wallpaper for our Ocean City townhouse renovation sent directly to her home. She had done some work for us already in that townhouse, as well as in another rental condo of ours. We were down to just one more bathroom to be completed, which is so small it only required one double roll of paper. I paid top dollar for the wallpaper, as it was purchased through and with the help of a decorator, and our decorator sent it directly to Nancy Hiner.
As this work was being done at our vacation home, and we weren't there often off-season, I occasionally called Nancy Hiner and left a message as to whether or not she had already finished with our bathroom wallpapering job. She never responded to my calls, which I made on/off for about 8 months. I managed to get her on her cell phone once after approximately that long, when she apparently was driving and didn't have the ability or thought to check the number of the incoming call... When I asked if she had finished the job, she just sighed and said that she just wasn't going to do the job, that it was too small. I then asked her if she would get the wallpaper to me so I could find someone else to do it. She said it was in her garage, she drove past my house almost daily, and that she would drop it off one day next week.
It's been about a year and a half, now, with me phoning whenever it crosses my mind, and I leave a message. I've picked up small claims court documents, but just haven't filled out the forms and filed them... This will take some research and coordination with my decorator, as the decorator has all the receipts and therefore the dates and actual cost of the paper, etc. I paid the wallpaper lady for all work she did immediately, never had a problem like this before, and am quite perplexed. My husband and I surmise that she got so far behind she was embarassed, or lost the paper or it was damaged sitting in her garage.
I've got two friends that live near her home, and they both offered to pick up the paper from her, but she never responded to that offer, either. I tried going through local organizations, such as the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, but she isn't a member. Any suggestions?!
