Warranty ripoff told me that everything was covered now refusing Christiana nationwide

In August of I purchased a laptop computer from Circuit City. At the same time I purchased an extended warranty. Originally a two year warranty, I later extended it to cover the full three years that I would be in law school.

A little over a month after I got it, I noticed that there were marks showing up on the screen that lined up with where the keys were. This was not a big deal, as I couyld still read the screen, and since I did not have time to be without it, I let it go. Other than that, I had no problems until November.

In November of my powercord shorted out— it smoked a little bit, and then I had no power. Circuit City would only replace it by mailing me a replacement. It would take two to three weeks to get a replacement powercord. I accepted this, and one was mailed to me. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to wait, as I had major papers on that hard drive and needed to work on them, so I had to spend money on a new power cord.

In December, the problems started to get worse, as the mousepad developed problems. The right mousekey quit working and now requires finessing and pressing just so to get it to work. Then, two weeks ago, the screen suddenly blacks out and the computer freezes up. I had to actually remove the battery to get it to shut off. I then could not get it to turn on again. So I call CityAssure and they tell me that I am going to have to mail it in. They agree to send me a box to get it repaired.

After I get off the phone with them I manage to figure out a way to get it to power back on— if I remove the battery and plug it in, it will turn on. I can then put the battery back in and it will continue to run, even if unplugged. Later, after the battery had fully died, the power function starts acting normally again, but I am still concerned about the computer's health.

The box arrives, and I package the computer up, including in the report every problem I have had with the computer (I figure if it is going to go away anyway it might as well come back perfect).

Tonight, I checked on the status of my repair and found that it was being denied. I called City Advantage Back and asked them what was going on. They told me that my warranty was not going to be honored, as the damage was "physical" and was not covered by the warranty, the same warranty that I had been told two and a half years ago would cover everything. Oddly enough, less than a minute before that, the repair had been approved, and a repair person had been put on the case. I am now really afraid as to what condition my computer is going to return in.
