Had recently placed an order with International Male, an online clothing site. Was asked if I wished to receive a $50 gas card and one month free membership for savings on gas, movies, etc.informed agent that was fine.
Never received any information or gas card. Was not contacted in any manner regarding situation.
Checked bank account... Was charged $96 for membership fees plus an overdraft fee because it placed my account in the negative. Called up the bank and they contacted the company for me. Was on phone for roughly forty minutes with HDI attempting to clear this issue.
Agent at HDI stated first that I was not in their system at all. He wanted to leave it at that; had to prod him to look further. Finally found where I had the new savings membership and that paperwork and gas card had been mailed to me in December.informed him that I had not received anything of the sort. He stated that he would reverse $96 and I should have that credited within 24 hours. Was a bit snobbish about it. When asked about the overdraft fee, he stated that he would put us through to a supervisor and immediately put us on hold.
Supervisor was snobby as well. When I informed him that I wanted the $30 back for the overdraft fee I was charged due to his company, he asked if I thought the fee was due to them. I informed him that I knew it was because of them. He asked several times the same question, and each time I informed him I knew it was due to his company's charge that my account went into the negative. He stated then that if I wanted them to consider paying the charge, I would need to send them my bank information plus a recent transaction statement. I declined because I did not trust them to not use that information for their advantage and charge my account.
Placed a fraud report with my bank and have had my check card cancelled. The money is being refunded by my bank as well.
