A couple of months ago, MCI called my mother-in-law and told her of a promotion they had going on, where additional numbers that are in the house can be added on for either $1.90 or $2.00, this depends on who you talk with at MCI. On 1/16, my mother-in-law rec'd a call from MCI asking for me.
She asked what it was pertaining to and they informed her that there was a bill due of over $145.00, part of the charges where for my phone for local long distance, where they had charged by the minute. When she took out their plan, she repeated three times that there would not be any additional charges for my number other than the two dollars a month.
A representative from MCI, by the name of Tiffany also proceeded to tell my mother-in-law that I had agreed to pay part of the bill and if she wanted to pay by credit card or some other means she could.
She called me and explained all this to me, and said that it was probably her bill, but that I might need to call MCI. I called MCI and Charlotte informed me that my name and address was on the bill, but the phone number involved was my mother-in-law's. Charlotte proceeded to remove my name as the person who it need to be billed to, due to the fact that I had not had long distance service in over two years.
After this I called a supervisor of MCI by the name of Violet and informed her that I wanted to file a complaint against MCI and especially against the representative named Tiffany, due to the fact that I had never talked to anyone from MCI, let alone agreed to pay some bill that I had not agreed to. The only thing I agreed to was the charge of $2.00 per month on the phone, but not to the additional charge. Violet said that the charge was only like $12.04 and I informed her if it was a penny I was not paying it. I did not authorize this.
I was informed by Violet that I had to call my local provider to have MCI taken off or I would receive random bills from MCI. Why is it my responsibility to waste my time for their screw-ups? I also informed her that this better not go on my credit score or I would file charges or anything else that's within my power to do. I wasted to much of my evening dealing with this mess and I am very unhappy with this situation.
I feel that this is unethical of MCI and that they need to be investigated plus I want to file charges against them for whatever I can. I also want a call from Tiffany to apologize to both, my mother-in-law and myself for lying.
