I went to Renovator.com and put my information on the website to have bids placed to finish my basement. Michael Puckett aka MP Companies responded. I set up an interview and decided to hire him. The contract was signed and I had to pay 50% upfront to pay for materials. I also had to get the building permits, which later I found out that his license is expired and he can't get building permits. He gave me this sobb story about costing me more money and that it had to be on blueprint paper, which was total Bull S*! T. He started the framing on my basement in January and about two weeks later the framing was finished. I gave him another 25% on February 3 which was stipulated in the contract. Because I live in a small town which is part of the county, I had the incorrect building permits. I needed to get ones from the Town in which I live in and not the County. I told Michael Puckett of our dilemna and he said no problem. When we get the permits, call him. I did.in April many times and told him to come back. He never did.in May I had to threaten him with court action and he had his worker Joe come in and install an egress window (part of code regulations that Puckett never knew about) in June. After many unanswered voice messages to his cell phone, he decided to return my call at the end of June and told me he would come in August to finish my basement. I called the first week of August to see when he would be coming, no answer, the second week, no answer and finally the third week left messages for court action. Had to have him arrested and went to court for construction fraud. Puckett sat on stand under oath and said my husband and I ate dinner with him and that we were poor and couldn't afford him and he felt sorry for us. Judge found that his actions were not intentional for construction fraud, however he has our money and has never contact us to finsh the job. To this day, I have a framed basement and he has my $18,000. Also recommeneded him to a co-worker that hired him. Her job is not finished and her husbands tools were stolen. Do not use this man to even mow your yard. Supposedly he has a landscaping business as well. Nothing but fraud. Now have to take to court again to get action and some of my money back.
