I asked my phone to be turned off on Oct. 9 which is the datre I was given by them that it could be turned off and not charged a disconnet fee. I was on a cruise on Oct 2-Oct 9 and they turned it off on Oct 3. They withdrw $175. Out of my account. I specifically talked with both Cingular and Nextel (my new phone co.) at the same time before I left and specified to not turn my account off.
STORY: I called in August to Cingular to find out the date my contract was up and I was told I could have my phone disconnected on Oct. 9. I set up to have my new phone connected and use the same phone number.
I spoke with agents from both Cingular and Nextel over the phone and specifically asked the I not be disconnected until Oct. 9 so I would not be charged a fee.
I left the country on a cruise on Oct. 2 and did not come back till Oct 9. I was told that Nextel rolled my number over on October 3. This was against my permission and I had already spoken to the rep at cingular to tell them that.
As I was out of the country at the time I could not have had any thing to do with them cutting it off early as it was still on October 2 when I left Port Canaveral. When I called about this the man I spoke to told me they had done it on purpose and he would do what he could to fix it but it was under anohter area of cingular. He had another lady come on line who was very rude and cept telling me it was a done deal and leagally they could do what they wanted to.
What has happened to America that people can take your money like this and act so Arogant. I want my $175. Back in my account.
