Ripoff stole items broke items

I used Starving Students in Orange County, Calif. To move all of the things from my one-bedroom apartment into storage. It was literally a nightmare. I could write a long-winded explanation of everything that happened, but I've already wasted enough time being stressed about it. The bottom line is that I want to warn other consumers NOT to use them. Not only were they unprofessional, but they were slow, lazy and clumsy.
It cost me more than $700 to move about 10 minutes away. They broke my wall unit even after I asked them to wrap it better. The guy told me "ma'am, I've been doing this for 7 years" and then I hear the crash of my glass breaking. "Oh, I'm sorry" was all he could say and "don't worry, they'll pay for it" as if that's some consolation for me. The worst part of the experience was that they stole at least 6 items from me. Everything from a boom box, to some small electronics and even my bed warmer, along with a few items that had sentimental value to me.

I filed a claim on my wall unit and got a tiny amount back. But by cashing the check, I basically settled my account according to them and the stolen items are lost forever. Dealing with them was made even more difficult considering that they have a very high employee turnover (gee, I wonder why!) so everytime I called, I had to explain the whole thing over again. I must have dealt with at least 4 new people. I would like them to acknowledge that they stole my items and give me back the couple things that had a sentimental value. Sometimes I wonder if the founder of the company is just some weird person who doesn't care, or if he/she/they are upset about how bad the company is run. I would hate to be responsible for a company who's employees steal from customers. The founder/president should be ashamed for starting all of this and not doing something about.

I tried contacting the corporate office again recently about my stolen things, but they won't respond. They simply don't care. The location that I used is not listed on their website anymore so I guess they closed that branch. So the only recourse I have is to warn you... And everyone I know, or will ever meet in the future... Not to use them. I wish someone would have warned me. Good luck with your move. Get a company that hires actual professionals, even if you have to pay more per hour. At least you won't have to worry about your things being stolen or broken.
