I was a satellite customer for Dish Network. I signed a one-year contract. I called in to check when my contract expired on April 22nd of this year. They told me it expired May 3rd of this year and I told them to go ahead and end my contract because I am currently working for a cable company and I get a good discount on my service.
They told me they would do that and if I wanted to come back to them they would waive the fee to re-connect. To make a long story short they sent me a bill for $240.00 for early cancellation. They told me I called April 22nd and it was cancelled on that date. I told them that is wrong and why would I be that stupid to cancel a week before and I called in on that date to see when my contract ended. I was apologized to and they said they were sorry and that I owe nothing. Now I keep getting a bill for $240.00 and now they tell me too bad you owe us this money. Now it's in a collection agency and I refuse to pay for something I don't owe.
I think it is illegal and unfair that it went to a credit collections agency and I notified them to tell them I don't owe this. Now I might get bad credit due to Dish Network's stupidity. I hope nobody uses this company ever! If anyone has advice for me I'm open!
Thank you.
