United Express Van Lines provided me with an estimate of $1798 for my move. After loading my belongings on their truck, they informed me that my move would now be $3232. This includes $290 in boxes which I believe is legitimate so I believe the overcharge to be $1144.
I had provided them with an accurate inventory that was based on my move only 18 months prior and am quite sure was accurate. However, I felt that I had no recourse as they had my belongings already loaded on the truck. The delivery was delayed for today and they are asking that the remaining balance of $900 despite the fact that it is my understanding that by law I can opt to pay them 110% of the estimate now and the final balance within 30 days. United Express Van Lines stated to me yesterday that if I did not give them the balance $900 they were not going to unload my stuff, despite the fact that I have already given them well over 110% of the estimate.
I spoke with the owner "Ben" and he said that he would give me a call back. I've left a couple of messages and heard nothing back from him.
