I have found so many web sites about Home Depot Hell. I have just been looking for a few minutes. Here is an email I sent to them to complain about their so called customer service.
Subject: Store Customer Service
Store Locator: Hemet, CA
Comments: I was at your store today, Tuesday, May 10. I had to go to customer service for my husband. He had returned some thing a few days before. They gave him a gift card. Telling him his check did not clear yet and would have to give him a gift card. He had proof of the check clearing and was home sick. Asked me to go in and see if they could give us back the $200 cash. We have lived in Hemet for two years.

We have been working on our home the whole time. So we also shop here and spend more than enough. I don't like to shop here because the parking is not very easy to get in and out. The people that work there are not all very nice. So I had it with Home Depot today. Today the young women would not let me even tell her why I was there. I started to explain what had happened she cut me off and asked for what I was returning. Then I started to speak again and the phone rang. So of course I was cut off once again. She did not even say sorry I have to get this. Or sorry when she got off the phone. I started to tell her my return problem again she seemed more interested in the other people around us. When I finally got to tell her the above. She did not want to hear what I had to say once again. She was shaking the return slip up in the air.

I told her we were not told that once a return was done and a gift card was issued that was it. We were just told that if you pay by check they had to make sure the check had cleared. I asked to speak to a manager. But by then I was just so up set with her cutting me off every chance she got. I just told her manager that she needs to learn how to let people speak and not cut them off. They had other help this time at their customer service desk. Usually it is only one person at the desk. So one person could feel stressed and need to get things done faster. But I did not take that much of her time. She did not need to keep cutting me off.

I had to explain why I was there since I did not have an iteam in my hand to return. I think your customer service needs to be a lot better, with all of your employees. Other stores are popping up all the time seems like they would like to be nice and more helpfull. Thanks for your time.

As I was leaving a another smart a* employee said I will give you $150 for your gift card.

If for any reason you need to return merchandise purchased at The Home Depot, please return the product with the original sales receipt within 90 days of the purchase. Any purchase made by a check that has cleared the 10 business day waiting period will be refunded in cash or Store Credit, whichever the customer chooses. Any other purchase made by check will be refunded as Store Credit only.

Any purchase made by Store Credit and Gift Card will be refunded as Store Credit. We reserve the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of certain products and non-receipted items.
