My 7yr old daughter and i were at the self check register ready to pay for our purchases i keyed in to pay by check then it said i need authorization, long story short a wal-mart employee took my check for $114.38 and drivers license saying she just needed verifacation, she leaves me and my 7yr daughter there for apox. 10 minutes returns saying they are tring to authorize the check.
Another 10 min passes when the lady tells me her shift is over and points to co worker miesha and says she is gonna help you, i said ok should i go over there miesha replied no tell her to stay there i said ok and stayed right there at the register by the main entrance to the store, so i stood there watching miesha do nothing just stand there for 5 min.
Then finaly she walks straight to the register and clears it as shes doing this i'm asking her "whats taking so long? Who has my drivers license? Can i have it back?" i couldn't believe she totaly ignored me, was right next to me and she didn't even look at me, but i know she heard me.
She walked to the next register over and started talking to the girl on the register, when another wal mart employee walks up to them, i try talking to him i said "sir maybe you can help me, whats taking so long?" he tells me they're trying to get authorization you have to give us a sec.
At this point i've been waiting with my little girl who was agrivated by this time for almost 45 min. My daughter says to me "mommy isn't that the girl that's supose to help us over there eating chips and talking to her friend?" sure enough it was. After a few minutes she relized i was looking at her she put down her potatoe chips andwalks right past me with one hand picking food out her teeth and the other raised at me with her palm facing me and mumbled somthing and was then gone.
Right there i thought no she didn't, i now being pissed after dissed stood there with my 7 yr daughter who naturaly is now acting up and wining to go home.
I'm thinking how ridiculously long they are taking i couldn't leave, they had my check & license. Just then i see a sheriff officer walk in the store straihgt to me and says "where did you get these checks" i said" the bank, the man at the bank gave them to me when i got on the account" after telling him and every one walking into wal-mart, using wal marts restrooms, and at front checkstands who i am where i bank how much i have in my account ect.
The officer goes outside calls my bank who verifys my accounts and funds he comes back in gives me my check & license and says what ever i do with my purchases is up to me and wal mart i said ok thank you sir he told me he was going to go back outside and tell manager they can come back in now.
I know being distraught and humiliated infront god only knows how many people. I was so upset when i turned and looked straight at the cashier my vision blurred for a sec then focused agian, out of pure frustration. After everything that happened wal mart still would not take my $114.38 check that has my name on it, my address, and my account # on it, that the norwalk sheriff just called and authorized at my bank wal-asked do you have some other form of payment?
I was actually going to go ahead go over my limit on my credit card just to get my groceries and go hom. Then i couldnt just pay it i'd have to stand there and ring everything all over again isaid "screw this" to;d my daughter lets go walked out side to see five cop cars and 6 to 8 officers standing around.
Not once did anyone from loss prevention talk to me or anyone of management.
The first cashier who i'm guessing is expert in fraudulent checks because she she never even called my bank for verification, after taking my check all any one would say was we are just waiting on authorization and for me to wait there. Here is my questions why didn't they pull me to the side out of the general public, instead my 7 yr old & i were made a specticle of.
How could thier be 5 sheriff cars called out for someone trying to fraud thier store and manager not even know about it.
Thats what she claimed when my husband called to make a complaint after seeing how upset my daughter and myself had been. Why did they jump to calling the police before the bank on my check? They could have said"check declined" but nope after treating me like a degenerate criminal in front of my daughter thry did not even apologize... Please respond and tell what you would do...
