G.K. Palmer hired me to do a comedy type show. We agreed on the price. We agreed he would pay for my hotel. The day of the show I got to the town early. G.K. Was already supposed to be there.
I called him and he stated he just left town. He was over 2 hours away. He said he had not booked the hotel yet. I went to the venue to wait on him. I spoke to the venue owners who stated he was a shady character. He didn't show so I was forced to pay for a hotel room so I could get ready for the performance.
I made it back to the venue. He had a band playing. The band played over 15 minutes. My show was supposed to start at 9pm. The band played until 9:15pm. Then G.K. Palmer went up to host the show. He was horrible! He did 15 minutes of so-called stand-up comedy? Then to my surprise he brought up another comedian? This guy wasn't that great either, he did 15 minutes of stand-up. G.K.informed me the comedian just drove in from out of town? So did I? After the comedian got off stage G.K. Went back up I thought to introduce me. He stumbled through 20 minutes of painful material he calls stand-up comedy.
I finally got on stage.By this time the crowd of 40 plus dwindled to about 25. I did my show. It wasn't as good as it should have been.By the time I got onstage everyone was too drunk. The audience didn't care. I forged through. I completed my show. G.K.informed me he took a loss at the door and could only pay me 210.00. He said he would go to an atm in the morning to pay me the rest. He said he was staying in the same hotel. He said call him at 9:30 A.M.
The next morning I called G.K. He didn't answer. I then found out he never checked into the hotel. I called some friends of his. They told me he is known for not paying talent. I sent him several text messages and he never returned my calls or texts.
The following night he responded and stated he was a mma fighter and he would kick my a*? I stated I just wanted my money. He said he would meet me the following tuesday. Tuesday came he said something came up. He would wire me the money. He never did. When I tried to Contact him he got nasty threatened me and said he would never pay me. A legit comedy booker never acts this way. I have been in this business a while now. This is the 1st dirtbag I have ran across beware he puts on sub-par shows. He doesnt do the promoting. He doesn't pay his talent!
