On Saturday, May 29, I responded to an ad on Craigslist from InsaneTix. I purchased 2 tickets by phone for $1100 to Stanley Cup Finals Game one, happening in Chicago that night. I paid using pre-paid MoneyPak cards and was told my tickets would be at Will Call. These tickets never materialized, and there were several other customers who had the same story — paid by phone via InsaneTix, no tickets.
I immediately called the pre-paid card company to request a fraud investigation and they put the funds on hold, although I was not able to have the transaction reversed. I also filed a report with the FBI and Dallas police, as well as a complaint with the BBB.in addition, I emailed [email protected] to request a refund. I spoke several times to a representative of Insane Tix. He requested that I drop the hold and that he would issue a refund either by check or wire transfer, in addition to free game tickets for a future event. Once I received his request in writing, and I provided him with my routing information for the refund to be sent.
To date, I have not received the refund, I have not heard back from the company, and now that the hold was dropped on the pre-paid cards, my chances of receiving the money back are slim. I believe that this entire event was a scam, and I along with many others, have been frauded out of thousands of dollars. I have supporting documentation for all of these events, including receipts and emails. If I do not receive a refund, I will continue my criminal investigation with the police.
