My family and I have only been living in our new home for a few weeks, but here's the move in story:
Key's are promised to us Tuesday evening at 5pm - we receive a call from our leasing agent about 4pm and are told the cleaning crew had to vacate because the smell of dog urine coming up from the carpet was so extreme so they would replace the carpet but we couldn't get the key's until Wednesday at 5pm... So we pack up our 26' moving truck full to the brim and arrive at about 10 till 5 Wednesday evening - and guess what? No new carpet and the smell of dog so rank it gave our 9yo son a headache on contact... Not to mention NOTHING had been cleaned. There was urine on the toilet seats, the stove nor kitchen floor were cleaned, the microwave has greasy and smelly, there was dog fur all over the floor upstairs (which had apparently been cleaned), dog fur in the window sills, in the washer and dryer, in the fridge and freezer, and caked into the bottom of the sliding glass door that the white trim was hidden by an 1/8” of thick black hair... And I could go on but you get the point. We argued that the space was unlivable and asked that they put us in a hotel for the evening and reimburse us for the extra day with the moving truck assuming the carpet would be replaced Thursday and a proper cleaning would occur... By 3:30pm Thursday not one person had come to the residence to perform any maintenance. Talking with Mavi we determined to unload our household into the garage and carpets would be replaced Friday between 1-4pm after which a cleaning crew would come through and get things in proper order... So finally at about 6:30 Friday evening the home was ready to move into. I've now submitted my receipts for the reimbursement, but am told it will be at least a week before I see any such reimbursement because too many people are out of the office... So who's managing the company currently??? Seems like no one except a receptionist - poor choice if you ask me. Additionally since the issues are due to the LACK of management why hasn't the company offered to pick up the slack and stop pushing it off on the owner who hired them to attend to such things so that such a tremendous phopaw doesn't occur?
My question to the property owner:
Why do you employ a Property Management company when they don't manage your property? I strongly suggest you either find a new management company or take it on yourself – you couldn’t possibly do any worse…
One other point - there is a deck off the back that is over height restrictions to be without a railing - of which there is none... This is certainly a safety hazard - but the only offering from Mavi is to personally pay for and build the railing ourselves and they can SEE about reimbursing us... Which is fine, I guess if our 21mo old son falls off and breaks a limb we can sue them for negligence... Horrible thing to say as a broken limb of a child is never worth any amount of money nor a railing that should have been provided prior to even being put on the market.
Bottom Line: In a few short weeks it’s become increasingly apparent to my family that Mavi is strictly out for your money and they have ZERO concerns for you or your family… I will NEVER recommend this management company to a tenant nor an owner wishing to rent out their home…
