I recently had Bay Carpet (http://baycarpet2-px. Rtrk.com) install new wall-to-wall carpeting in my Manhattan apartment/office. I originally met with Karl, who I believe is the principal/owner of the company. He came to my apartment and spent almost two hours with me, patiently discussing every aspect of my choices of style and color, including a trip back to his car to retrieve more samples. After explaining the particular needs of my situation (I run a recording studio business in my home), he came up with a perfect suggestion for good looking, quality carpet and padding that would stand up well to the tough conditions, as well as assuring me that the wiring I have running under and around the carpet would be properly looked after during the installation. He also agreed to cover the entrance hall in wood-grain linoleum for no extra charge (carpet would have been impractical there). He offered what seemed like a very fair price for the whole job, and arranged to send me four larger samples of the colors choices I'd narrowed it down to. I made a choice, and we set up a time.
The installation took two long days, and involved two workers, both of whom arrived right on time and were very friendly, hardworking, and patient. The less senior of the two spoke very little english, but the other made that unimportant. Plus I got a chance to brush up on my Spanish, which I quite enjoyed! I was present during the entire process. All considerations of furniture moving, the wiring, my large amount of music and audio gear etc. (which is very complex and delicate) were managed in a very professional and careful way, which was a great relief since I had been literally dreading doing this for many years, for those and other reasons. I also have a grand piano, which was treated very professionally.
The new carpet looks fantastic, and I think is an ideal choice for my tricky hybrid environment. It's infinitely better quality than the 22 year old (!) carpet it replaced, and considering that as well as 22 years of inflation and the increased difficulty of the job this time (it took only a day back then since there was much less to move out of the way at the time), the price was a real bargain. Nothing got damaged, no wires broken etc., (whew!) so I want to thank Carlos and Alberto again for all of their patience and TLC.
To sum it up, I would highly recommend Bay Carpet for even the most challenging of installation scenarios. Thanks a million to Karl, Carlos and Alberto!
