Simple version... Hurricane Charlie and Francis severly damaged our home and property in Lake Wales, Central Florida. After re-building and repairing95% of the damage the real trouble started, flooding rains hit the area. Our house and property was under three feet of water for months. We had to leave our salvaged belongings in the home until the water eventualy subsided. Propert and home were a wreck, we spent a couple of years cleaning up when we were able to make it back on weekends, the house was unlivable since theStormsand we had moved away.
We had been working with Code Enforcement and had satisfied their requirements for clean up. The Demolition Department for the same county filed a Notice of Demolition and postedtheir intentin a localpublicationas required by law if you can not contact the intended party. They could have walked across the hall and talked with folks that were contacting and corresponding with us regularly!
A nieghbor called and told me when the bulldozers arrived put there was no stopping the County on it's mission. I was told it was too late, too bad. The fact that hundreds of homes were flooded in our area as well, and the fact that we were honoring another department in the county's demands was irrelevent.
We lost 30 years of memories and the family home, for us and our four chidren.
