I first received a letter from Southern Management systems in March. I decided to contact them to discuss with them that the debt was incorrect. They were claiming I owed Pegasus Landing a large sum of money, which was not true. The case was still in the process of being disputed due to negligence on the landlord's part.
I was transferred to Terrance Mays, the man in charge of my case. He insulted me, he told me that I needed to just pay my balance and who did I think I was. He proceeded to ask me if I thought I had some crown on my head that I didnt have to pay the balance. I was furious, never have I been insulted by any company like this before. I was especially surprised because I was trying to be nice. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he refused to transfer me, he said his manager was right next to him and that he had the right to speak to me that way. When he refused to transfer me after I repeatedly asked him to, I hung up.
He than proceeded to contact my mother and grandmother and harass them. Its one thing to harass me but its another to harass my family who have nothing to do with this. He told my mother she had to pay the balance becuase I was a poor college student who couldn't afford to pay it. I called back and finally got in touch with someone and they took him off my case, but the woman i spoke to didn't want to validate my dispute either, she simply said I had to pay the balance.
I have not received a call from them since, its been 2 months. I find that very strange because I know most credit agencies will contact you at least once a week. This balance is now on my credit report and I don't know what to do. If their license is revoked, what will happen to the balance?
