Yesterday, my wife spoke, or rather was yelled at, with a manager at this company. She'd called to lodge a complaint against an agent, Sara Miller, of Southern Management Systems who'd refused to identify herself or the company as a debt collection and had screamed at my wife, calling her a liar and telling her she better pay or else and then hung up on her.
The manager notified my wife that Southern Management Systems had the right to scream, berate, and otherwise mistreat anyone they wanted. When my wife said she and others have rights and she would be filing complaints with the appropriate government agencies, the manager laughed and said that was an idle threat. If you have had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with this company and either didn't pursue filing a complaint or didn't know where to go, I'd like to provide you with the following sites.
Federal Trade Commission: www.ftccomplaintassistant. Gov
Florida Office of Financial Regulation: www.flofr.com.
With the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, they want you to register by using your email address and creating a password. Please consider filing with them despite any initial reservations you may have.
The Federal Trade Commission states with enough complaints they can build a big enough case to shut down companies like Southern Management Systems.
