My husband and I moved into a Pontiac MI residence owned by Pete Lombardo during the middle of September. Before signing a lease with this landlord (slumlord), we were assured that all repairs would be made quickly. He touted himself as a handyman and stated over and over again that any repairs needed would be quickly repaired. We completed the commencement inventory checklist and the repairs remain the same as when we moved in.
After asking around, we discovered that Peter Lombardo is a pontiac slumlord. The community development department in Pontiac is overwhelmed by the amount of landlords in Pontiac that are just like him. They have been called repeatedly in regards to the violations, but they seem to loose the paperwork or address or overbook every time. He cashes our on-time $700 rent check every month but fails to show up to make the repairs. Note: The rent checks must be mailed. One of our repairs is the lack of adequate weatherproofing. If it is 30 degrees outside, it is even colder inside. The weather enters the premises through all doors and windows.
Pete Lombardo's signs advertising rentals are on many street corners in Pontiac MI. We have also ran into several of his past tenants that have had the same response to repairs as we have. It seems that he never makes the repairs, new people are moved in when you vacate. If you are considering housing in Pontiac MI, don't make the Pete Lombardo mistake.
