Kangaroo DVD
Consumer Report

BEWARE of this company as it is advertising some 'products' for sale that have as yet not been released in the form they are selling them in, by the authorised holder of the distribution rights. That is - they are advertising complete series Boxed Sets of DVD's for some TV shows where the individual series have not all been released yet on a Season basis. This verifies complaints on this site that the company is pirating shows off US or Canadian networks and very poorly dubbing them onto recordable DVD media. I emailed the company and they actually verified this with a reply - here is a transcript of the email covering both the product for sale, and the fact that they charge in US dollars when they advertise their 'products' in Australian dollars -

Me: I see you have the complete Mad About You (7 series) in a Boxed Set available. I have never seen this advertised anywhere else - only the first 5 series available for purchase individually. I did not know a complete collection Boxed Set existed. Most of the literature I can find on this says that Sony Entertainment has not yet released Series 6 and 7 on DVD yet. When was this boxed set released?

Kangaroo DVD response: These are not studio released DVD Collections.

These are limited edition Fan "Collector" Edition sets. Therefore they are not the same type of product you would find at Amazon.com or Best Buy or any other 'PHYSICAL' retailer.

These are for fans of the TV Show that simply want to have all the episodes on DVD and are not overly concerned with having the best quality. They are new and have never been used by anyone else.

Keep in mind, if you are unhappy with the DVD's, we offer a full Money Back Guarantee. So there's absolutely no risk.

Note Kangaroo DVD's comment that purchaser's of their products ARE NOT OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT BEST QUALITY RECORDINGS!

Me: The products advertised on the DVDKangaroo website are listed in Australian Dollars, yet under your FAQ section you state that all transactions are conducted in $US. Is this correct or do you also charge in $AU? If not, wouldn't it be better just to advertise the prices in $US on the website? What exchange rate do you use to convert prices? If this is the case, currency exchange conversions will add a significant amount to the price payable. Some clarity on this would be much appreciated thanks.

KANGAROO DVD response:

The website shows Australian Dollar Prices (which is what you will pay and what will show up on your credit card statement)

The email shows the US Dollar price (which we officially bill in as we are located in the USA)

Just to clarify...

All prices on the website are converted to your LOCAL CURRENCY
We show prices in AUD as a courtesy and convenience for our Australian customers
What you see on the site is what will end up showing on your credit card statement
NOTE: Please keep in mind these are CONVERTED prices based on the most recent Exchange Rate
We officially bill all customers in USD (US Dollars) as we are located in North America
So what you see in your email is the actual USD price we charge, NOT the AUD price you pay

KANGAROO DVD response about complaints posted about them on on-line forums such as this:

Unfortunately there will always be people/customers that do not have the ideal experience and post negative feedback online.

Sometimes competitors will also pose as customers and post negative feedback. Even Amazon and Apple and Google have negative feedback.

I can assure you 99% of our customers receive their order and are 100% satisfied. These happy people do not post their POSITIVE REVIEW online and therefore you only see the negative. Negative is always much louder than positive.

Remember, we offer a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. So when the product arrives, and you are not happy with the DVD's, just email us and we'll provide you a full refund.

Also, keep in mind, you always have an EXTRA layer of protection with your credit card company.

If a website or business does not issue you a refund or does not ship a product, you simply contact your bank and inform them to issue a chargeback.

Either way, you will always be taken care of when you shop at ANY of our sites and I'm sorry a few bad apples ruined it for you.

When challenged about the amount of complaints listed on forums such as this, the email responses from Kangaroo DVD very rapidly became abusive -

I totally understand your point of view.

You are brilliant. Truly a 164 IQ genius.

My advice - Stay well away from this company as they are quite obviously a Sham, and do not like being found out. Do your homework about what you are about to buy, and if it doesn't exist anywhere else, it sure doesn't exist at Kangaroo DVD - unless you want poorly recorded pirated material from US or Canadian or other TV Network.
