Consumer Report

I wanted to order a pair of Sperry Top Sider shoes for a Christmas gift. I was originally going to buy them off of the actual Sperry Top Sider website because they were on sale for $64.99. However, they didn't have the size I needed. Other websites for stores like Macy's or Amazon.com were asking for full price at $84.99. So I decided to search all over the web for the best price and if they had my size. It seemed like a miracle when this website popped up in my search results through Google. They had my size and they were selling them for $51.00! I was so excited so I put the order through when I got the go-ahead from my mom, because I was going to use her credit card. The website looked real so I proceeded to checkout. There wasn't any shipment or tax fees, so I was even more happy that I didn't have to pay a lot. Then the website brought me to PayPal and I haven't used this service before so I created an account and checked out. I received a confirmation e-mail and a receipt. So that gave me a sign that I was okay and the website was safe. That all was October the 25th. Well it is November 8th now and I was curious if my mom received the package at home (because I'm up at college) and she said that she hasn't seen anything. So I told her I would call the company. I searched high and low for the website, even went back through my internet history. Google kept saying they couldn't find the website. At that point I was angry and sent an e-mail that my receipt provided, saying I didn't get my order. My roommate searched for the website on her laptop and found that it was listed on this site (usacomplaints.com). We read everyone's complaints about the website and everything matched completely. Also in a complaint it mentioned that for this scammer to prove that a package was sent, they would send something small like a pencil. So I called my mom up and told her the whole story. She stopped me when I mentioned the pencil thing, and said that she got a pencil in the mail. I was scammed. Normally my computer tells me if a website is safe or not, but I didn't get any red flags that an excited, broke college student would notice. I want my money back, and more importantly, I want the scammer to pay for their crime.
