Target 5% off credit/debit card

To whom it may concern,

I had several bad experiences at the local Target store in Muncy, PA. But the most recent was in December when I opened a Target Debit card and was told I would receive 5% off ALL purchases when using the debit card including the purchase I was making the day I opened the account. When I tried to use the debit card for the first time (12/13) a couple weeks after applying and being approved I could not remember my PIN. The girl who checked me out said that was fine. I could just go over to the Customer Service Desk and they would be able to give me 5% off once I had my PIN. I made a phone call and obtained my PIN, went to the Customer Service Desk, explained what I was just told by the clerk who checked me out. That person told me I was not able to get the 5% off today because I wrote a check and the check had to clear but I could return with the receipt only, not the merchandise, in approximately 16 days, once the check cleared, and GET MY 5% off then.

I returned to the store on 1/2 with my receipt to obtain my 5% off. I explained to the Customer Service Desk clerk what had transpired. He called someone else. I explained to that person the same information. She made a phone call and was told to call another number. She called that number and was given another number to call. After her third attempt of making calls to Target Corporate she was told it could not be done and I could not receive my 5% off - 23 minutes later, not counting my efforts to obtain the 5% due me on 12/13 of an additional 10 minutes. She apologized, handed me the receipt, and said, "I guess we are a bunch of liars." She said they have been told (by Target Corporate) that this could be done and she herself had told customers in the past to return with receipt and they would be issued their 5% due if there was a problem at time of purchase. This is the second time this happened to me. The first time was in November when I applied for a Target Credit and was told the same thing.

I am tired of the lies. I WILL NOT shop at Target. My purchases were considered and decided upon taking an additional 5% savings off the price I was paying. I received NOTHING but headaches from Target when I have tried to use Target debit/credit cards.

I think you owe it to your customers to either inform personnel correctly or honor what the customer has been told.
