Target Customer "disservice"

Credit was never posted to my credit card account for an electronics item costing $14.85, returned on 8-27-12. Today I returned to the Target-Lauderhill, FL store in attempts to resolve the matter. First employee I encountered at the Service Desk, Elisa, dismissed me immediately, stating after glancing at my return receipt "that return is too old, nothing can be done". I asked to speak to her supervisor, Kim, who was equally unhelpful. Kim then enlisted the help of the security guard, George, who after disappearing for 30 minutes brought back a few sheets of paper which I was not allowed to view. George proceeded to read off a series of numbers that made little sense, including the last 4 digits of a credit card I do not own, to which, according to George, my credit was applied. I explained to George that I called the service dept. For the two Visa cards I do own, and was told no credit in the amount of $14.85 was applied. He just kept repeating himself, not unlike a robot with a stuck gear, "the credit was applied to your credit card ending in #1553". Again I asked if I could see the documents that show the original purchase receipt with the credit card number, since the customer service rep. Who processed the refund failed to give me back the original receipt. He said "no", but did not offer a reason. I was told by Elisa that I should have received back the orginal purchase receipt for the returned item, and if I did not, it was because I failed to ask for it back!!?? It seems the same "stellar" service is exhibited by all of Target Lauderhill customer service representatives.
The bottom line is that I do not have the item anymore, or my money, and apparently investigating the cause of why the credit was not applied correctly, which is probably due to a simple clerical error, is too daunting for these "three stooges".
My advice to potential Target patrons is that what ever you buy, you had better keep, otherwise, you may be out the item and your money, like me. Better yet, shop at Walmart.
