I placed my order with Taylor Gifts via their catalog and the telephone... Not on line. I had questions which their web site did not answer and the lady who took my order asked if she could complete it by phone so I agreed.
At the end of the order taking procedure on May 11, she asked me if I would like to have an additional discount on the order of, I believe, 10%, for $1.95. That order was for $24.12. At least that was my charge. On May 15 I was billed twice for $1.95.
I became ill shortly after this transaction and didn't really review my credit card bills till sometime in September. My bills are paid automatically. I am an 88 year old woman, living in a retirement community where I take many of my meals. I was an owner of a travel agent prior to retirement. I no longer can travel much. I believe I have all my mental faculties, play bridge, use a computer, and drive a car. I explain this because this is what happened to my bills while I was ill.
In June, July, and August I was charged $14.95 two times a month, a total of $89.70. I caught it with my August USAA credit card bill and immediately called to find out what it was that I was paying for. I learned to my horror that I had agreed to try the discount program and when the first month was over, I was to pay the regular fee (if I didn't cancel) for what was a food and travel discount program. The amount was not named. Never, ever would I have agreed or had need of such a program. I cancelled all.
