Kingdom Chevrolet on Western in Chicago
Consumer Report

On April 19 of this year, I brought my 2002 Chevy Impala into Kingdom Chevrolet on Western Ave.in Chicago to have a couple of leaks fixed and other issues looked into.
I also needed to have a gauge replaced on my dashboard so they replaced a cluster. When I got the estimate as to what needed to be repaired regarding the leaks and cluster, I told them to go ahead and “fix everything.” (my exact words).
They replaced lower and upper intake gaskets and bled the cooling system. They said nothing about my power steering pump until I went in again in August. My car had continued to leak fluids from April to August and so I went in again to find out what they had missed.
Then they told me in August that I would have to pay another $1900 to fix the leak in the power steering system and rack and pinion on top of the $2089 that I had already given them the first time.
When I went in and told them that my car was still leaking they told me that “new leaks can happen after the repairs to the original ones.” That caused me to have some suspicion and when I found out that they could have replaced the power steering pump with the original order without more labor costs I knew something was not right.
The leaks in the power steering pump are not new and were one of the original leaks that should have been fixed the first time along with the other repairs. This problem did not develop after their original repairs…it was there to begin with!
My feeling is this, Kingdom Chevrolet deliberately held back some of the work so that they could charge me more labor when I brought the car in again.
Recently I took my car to an ‘alley mechanic’ who replaced the power steering pump with a new one from Auto Zone for approximately $160, now I have no more leaks.
When I requested that Kingdom Chevrolet “fix everything”, why wasn’t the power steering pump included and related parts replaced? It is obvious to anyone who looks under the car that the pump was leaking. They confirmed this when I came back on August 24th and the put the car on the rack, pointing out the leaking fluid from the ps pump.

For me there is only one possible answer as to why they did not replace the pump in the first place, Kingdom Chevrolet wanted more money. The way I see it Kingdom Chevrolet is a predatory business, preying on unsuspecting customers by leaving some of the work undone so that it can do it later at their inflated labor costs. I trusted K.C. Because they are Chevy.
It seems that K.C. Is all about extending the labor time to make more money. And this makes their operation out to be potentially a SCAM.By deceiving the customer with incomplete information, by omitting some of the repairs that could be done with other repairs which would keep labor costs at a minimum, they take advantage of the public.
Business relationships are built on trust and satisfaction.in my book, Kingdom Chevrolet cannot be trusted because they failed to deliver their services to me in a satisfactory manner. And then tried to cover their tracks telling me that, “new leaks develop.” In my case, what bullshit! The leak in the ps pump was there all the time. They didn’t tell me because they wanted to extend the work hours for more money.
