I've been renting a 10 X 5 locker from ExtraSpace Storage in Atlanta on Cheshire Bridge Rd for about 4 yrs. I finally cleaned it out and canceled my contract.
However, when I went to the website to find the phone number, I discovered that I was paying approximately a 50% premium over the going rate. I was paying $148 and the going rate was $99 (not considering the 1/2 off first mo. Promo). I couldn't believe it.
When I called to cancel and complain about the gross inequity, it fell on deaf ears. I heard:
- "We can raise your rate at any time"
- "It's in the contract"
- "Others are paying more than you are..."
- We don't handle this. Call corporate. (BTW, I called "corporate" and was told that I could leave a message due to heavy call volumes...)
When I asked if they thought that this 50% premium was fair, I got no response. Shame on me for not monitoring this company to ensure that they weren't screwing me.
Lesson learned.
