On 8-19 i was looking on craigs list for a house to rent. I seen one for rent in Oscoda, MI 48750 at 4971 Melodey Street.
I e_mailed to who I thought was the owner. On Monday 8-20 I recieced an e-mail from Brian Klee say that we could rent the house. He said him and his wife live in Nigeria. His wife is a medical doctor and she works for the American Redcross. My husband and I know alot of people who have gone to Africa to work. So we thought this was real.
Brian sent another e-mail with his home address and phone number. We had to call him on his cell phone, we did and we were asked to send $1,100.00 for the first months rent and for the security deposit. Brian had said that they were renting the house out so it wasn't just sitting empty. The rent was $600.00 with all utilities garbage included.
Was told that they didn't need the money. That's why the rent was so cheap.
On monday 8-20 we sent $1,100.00 by Western Union to Ikeja, Lagos. The fee for wiring the money was $67.00. We had to call Brian Klee after the money was transferred. I didn't call right away, I e-mailed him. We are disabled and living on Social Security.
The money we sent was for a bigger house. We have 2 of our childern who moved back home because of our economy. Our son is 27 and our daughter is 32 and she brought her 2 kids 6 and 4. We are in a small 2 bedroom house. So when we heard we could rent this bigger house, we were very excited, until tuesday8,21. Brian Klee sent another e-mail with the lease papers attached.in the lease agreement, Brian had changed the move in amount up to $4,100. He called that morning and asked if I had checked my e-mail. Brian tols us on the phone that his lawyer had said we needed to send an extra $3,000 for the 2nd, 3rd, fourth and fifth months rent. We arguged with him and told him we agreed to $1,100. Brian wouldn't take no for an answer. He called 3 more times that day.
We found out later that day, that we were scamed. My husband called the real estate that has the house and asked for the owners name. The realty said it was a scam. They had someone else call about the same house.
We called the following people right away:
Western Union, ATT (for the over seas charges), Cragis list was an e-mail. I did fill out a IC3 form too.
Western Union told us they have his full name and address on file along with a picture of him. Here is the information he sent us:

I have saved every e-mail and receipt. I hope you can help us get our money back. This Brian Klee had picked it up already.
