A medical billing company telephoned me and indicated I owe $100 for a missed appointment. I indicated I never made an appointment nor had I been there before. She in turn had the office call me. The nurse indicated that the discharge nurse made an appointment for me upon being released from hospital and a telephone confirmation was received 2 days prior to appointment which was a few days after my release. I agreed that all this maybe possible but since I've been on acute pain medication, I'm unaware of any this... At what point was I informed of this fee and/or signed a financial agreement or contract with your business. I indicated that this has to be illegal and a malpractice against me and/or any other consumer. She claims this information was sent in the mail and this action is legal through the Medicare laws. I said without a written signed agreement between me and your business (like everything in the medical business) this is illegal and I will attempt pursuing a class action lawsuit on business practices of this manner. She indicated it was out of her hands.
