Bank Account Became Default and Caused Overage Charges

In order to pay an eBay vendor this week, PayPal required me to submit a bank account number for my account file, even though I always use my credit card on PayPal, have NEVER defaulted on a payment and have over $10,000 in credit on the card. If I did not submit the number, the vendor would not get paid, I would lose the item and I would get blacklisted on eBay, which owns PayPal. So I submitted an account number.

Three days later I discovered that PayPal had debited my bank account for subsequent purchases and caused me overage charges. I contacted Pp and spent over 70 minutes talking to three agents. I was told they were sorry and that the company should have explained that from now on the bank account would be my default setting.

I was told the only way to avoid this was to either go into my account each time and temporarily change to the credit card, or close this account and open a new one using a totally new card number. PayPal would not refund to my account and repay the vendors using my credit card on file, and it would not refund my overage charges.
