I called to complain that my air conditioing unit was not blowing cold air. The repairman came out to my house and discovered the tank was just about empty, which points to a leak. Of course leaks are not covered under the maintenance plan. He proceeded to put in 5 lbs of freon without conducting a leak test. I feel this was irresponsible. The company also charges $99 for the first lb. And $60 each additional pound. I have called around to six local competitors and found the highest price for freon is $30/lb. The price South Jersey Energy Service Plus charges is outrageous. ALL of the freon leaked out within 10 days and the company then wanted to continue to gouge me by quoting a price of ~$2000 to fix the unit without even knowing what was wrong with it. When I contacted the technical supervisor and asked him why the technician completely filled the tank when he knew there was a leak and neglected to perform a leak test, he told me that a kid in my neighborhood probably stole the freon from my unit. What??? This is both unbelievable and ridiculous. He was extremely unprofessional and very rude. He also said that the technician never quoted me a price to fix the unit and he indeed did! The technician falsified his records and the company did nothing. The customer service provided was the worst I have seen in a long time.
