We contacted Robertsdale Air Conditioning and Heating to repair our unit on April 5 when it began freezing up. They sent out technician Nick who told us what we had already told them was wrong that we had a freon leak. He claimed that he repaired the leak. He also told us the coils were rusting and would need to be replaced. For 2 units of freon to be placed in our unit we were charged $58.40 for the first pound of freon and $26.00. One pound of freon is only $22.00, yet they charged us almost triple for 1 pound. We were also quoted 1620.00 to replace the rusting coils. Another $80.00 would buy us a brand new air conditioning unit.
On May 6 our ac went out yet again. We called Longs heating and ac and found out quickly why it went out. Because of Nicks inadequate training or perhaps it was a ploy to milk more money out of us we had to pay another 148.10 to repair his screw up. After placing the freon in our unit Nick placed the compactor on wrong causing our fan blades to move in the wrong direction. This in turn not only caused us to have a outrageous power bill due to the high amount of power it took to keep our home cool as we were having 80 degree weather, and high humidity, but also almost caused us to have to buy a brand new unit. The compactor was close to blowing. The compactor had to be replaced because it should be indented in on the top not expanded out like a coke can that had been left in the freezer entirely to long. Had we not noticed the fan outside was not working properly (sucking in air from the top of the unit instead of blowing air out the top) the compactor could have exploded causing more damage, possible fire, and could have cost us to have to purchase a brand new air conditioning unit.
Numerous calls to the company landed no results. They never had a technician return our call despite our numerous attempts to get a call back. We tried to call numerous times, yet noone ever returned our calls. Their secretary is a joke. Her fake faulty promises of having a technician return our calls, the ever missing business owner who never works, and their inadequately trained technicians has caused us to think twice before ever hiring another company out of the phone book again.
NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!
They rip off their customers by charging outrageous prices, but also improperly replace parts back where they belong to try to get themselves more business.
