Statlinx telephone answering service: caveat emptor, the low bid, high invoice

Statlinx ' salesman one year ago gave me a bid for answering services for my small business: $50 per month.

For some reason I never got invoices. One year later, they want nearly $3000, stating that there was all types of usage above and beyond their basic package (with no interim warnings ever).

My last answering service was only slightly more than $50, and now Statlinx is sending a bill for nearly 4 times that amount per month.

Disingenuous, to say the least. They claimed they sent invoices but I never got a single one. Three or four argumentative e-mails later, they have dropped the price down to the contracted amount.

There never should have been any quadrupling of my monthly amount. If my services rendered were above their contracted amount, they should have contacted me immediately, within the first month. The sales agent (and no one else) ever did.
