In October a man named Greg Fisher on Facebook asked me to befriend him, and I did, thinking he was someone I had gone to school with. We had been talking on chat for a couple of months, and then in December he told me that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, that he was dying, and that he wanted to give 200,000 in his account in a bank in Nigeria. He gave me his banking info so I could see for myself that he was not lying.
He then told me that I would need a PayPal account so he could send me the money, because it was the safest and fastest way to receive and send money. He also told me that this would be like a work-from-home online job and that I would make 10% of what was sent in. So I did, and I sent money out of my account that he sent to me, to the people and places he told me. A couple of days later I got an email from PayPal saying that I owe money for chargebacks.
I have had my account with PayPal for almost 15 years and have sold through eBay and received money through PayPal for my items sold. I have also bought a lot online and paid through PayPal and have never had any problems or chargebacks. I had no money in my PayPal account when this man started to send money in, and then I sent it to whomever he told me to send it to. I hardly made anything off the deal either. PayPal is now saying that I owe them this money.
To make things worse, I found out that the whole thing was a fraud scam and that he had also done the same thing to a friend of mine. I have turned him and PayPal over to the Secret Service.
