After having already pre-paid for a car rental which included $70 in fees/taxes, my rental contract was upcharged $150.26 for liability waiver, facility fees, and related taxes for which I denied at the counter. I had indicated that my own insurance covers my liability and I have additional coverage provided by the credit card I used for the rental. The agent then had me sign multiple times for these items without her indication, adding the additional $150 charge to my credit card. After multiple attempts by phone to remove the charges, I was told repeatedly that because I had signed for the fees, I would not receive the credit I was asking for. The agent clearly remembers me and realizes that an error was made, but because I had initialed each response on the agreement where the agent had indicated, her managers believe that it was my intention to accept coverage only to expect my money back after returning the car undamaged. Avis has clearly indicated that I am not a customer, but rather a thief for expecting a refund on unsolicited charges. My experience didn’t include ANY of Avis’ values, mission, or vision. Beware!
