Door-to-door magazine sales masquerading as a charity

This is one of those gray areas. Ultimate Unity may not be an outright scam, but it's pretty close. I'm pretty sure the door-to-door sales person represented it as a non-profit organization, but I don't see that on the receipt.

He said it was a "second chance" program and said "you believe in people getting a second chance, don't you?" He was very smooth and polished. The result was that I wound up paying $69 for a magazine I had never even heard of, just to have the situation resolved.

I haven't begun to receive the magazine, but the receipt does warn that it can be three-four months until it does.in any case, I find that I could have subscribed for about half of what I paid for it.

It's never a good idea to buy magazines from a door-to-door sales person. I knew that, but was caught by surprise. It's probably a good idea to just say "no, thanks. If I want a magazine, I'll buy it."
