The company offers help dealing with your credit card debt and pretends that they know all about your credit history. I should have known better because the man's story shifted depending on what I said. For example, when I asked him if the reason he could get my credit card interest rates to be lowered to 6.9% was because of some new laws regulating the industry he said "oh yes. There are new laws..." He also kept repeating that they were only calling me because I have had a high balance on my credit cards longer than 6 months and the credit card companies are supposed to help if that happens. The seller also promised I would see a savings of $2500 in the next 2 months which would make up for the $798.00 that he would ADD to my debt on the credit card or that money would be fully refunded. He of course gave no concrete ways that I would see those savings except by implying that the company would get my interest rates lowered.
Now when I talk to my new Key One "financial manager" he has avoided talking about the one thing I am interested in — lowering the rates. He also has said that I will only get a refund if they havn't SHOWN me how to save $2500 over the next year and told me that 2 months was never mentioned. They aren't going to save me $2500 just "show" me how to do it.
Of course, when I was being recorded during the sales call I didn't make them repeat that I would get a refund if I didn't see the savings in 2 months. Apparently I am the one that needs to call the credit card companies and ask for a lower interest rate — I could have saved myself the $800 and just called them myself. When I did call — the credit card company would only reduce my rate by 2% not in half which would be the 6.9% implied by Key One and for only HALF of my balance without a fee.
