Last year, Ocwen contacted my mother (my parents are disabled and on fixed income) and offered her a loan modification. She filled out the papers and was approved. Her payments dropped about $200 per month. Four months later, Ocwen sent a letter stating that her payments weren't covering her insurance, etc and she had to come up with over $2,000 or would lose her house in 10 days. She was able to borrow this from a family member and paid it. They came back a couple of weeks later and said the had to come up with over $2,500 or would lose the house. She had to see a lawyer and file bankruptsy. They then sent her, yet another offer of a loan modification! Feb 24, due to storm damage, the insurance company issued her a check for repairs. Ocwen has to sign it and she mailed it to them. She has yet to receive the check back and they're saying (after two full days on the phone of being passed around from one rep to the next, then back to the first) that they couldn't find the check and had no record of it.in frustration, she went to her lawyer who filed the bankruptsy... They called and were told the check was applied to the "end of her balance". Now she can't have any repairs done from the storm.
